You ensure we’re ahead of the curve.
You are good at logical thinking and quickly understand how things are related. As a platform development computer scientist, Federal VET Diploma, you have in-depth knowledge of ICT and feel completely at home online. You help to keep hackers at bay and ensure that everything in our IT department is stable and secure. And because variety is important: your area of work changes every 6–12 months.

To ensure you get off to a good start with us, you should ideally have the following skills and experience:
Before you get started, you’ll need certain skills and experience to help you to get the job done. This also means that you have completed middle or upper secondary school with good grades.
You are reliable and take on responsibility.
People can rely on you, and you tackle all tasks conscientiously. Your team can always count on you.
You are good at mathematics and English.
You’ve achieved excellent grades in mathematics and English. This is important, because the software language is English.
You think analytically.
You realize how everything is related and enjoy analysing problems.
You like to get things done.
You like to be active, try things out for yourself and don’t give up quickly.
You work at your best as part of the team.
You enjoy working with others, are good at communicating and say what you mean.
Training and vocational school:
The training lasts for four years. You’ll start with a year of basic training at Swiss Post’s ICT Campus in Bern. During your apprenticeship in Bellinzona or Neuchâtel, you’ll learn the basics together with Swiss Post partners. You can go even further into the details in various practical placements. You’ll then change jobs every six to 12 months, so that you can try everything out and learn more wherever you are. You’ll attend vocational school one to two days a week. If you meet the admission criteria, you can also attend the vocational diploma school (BMS).
And after your apprenticeship?
After your apprenticeship, there are many ways to further your education, with or without a vocational school-leaving certificate:
Diploma
You can obtain a diploma, e.g. as a platform development specialist or cybersecurity specialist.
Higher technical school
For example, higher technical school qualification as IT technician so that you can delve even deeper into exciting tasks.
Bachelor or Master
In business informatics or IT at a research university, university of applied sciences or federal institute of technology if you want to pursue a career.
