Ready for your driving lessons?

To register for driving lessons, you must be at least 21 years old and have a category B licence (minimum two years) or C licence (minimum three months).

How to obtain your category D licence.

    Fill in your application for a provisional licence or a confirmation of practical driving experience.

    You only need to complete the confirmation of practical driving experience if you already have a category C licence and at least three months of practical driving experience. More information: strassenverkehrsaemter.ch

    Request a quotation for driving training.

    If applicable, please send proof of your category C practical driving experience (500 hours in the last 220 working days). Your data will be sent to the relevant driving instructor.

    Register for driving training.

    The driving school will send you an offer. If you agree to the conditions, sign the offer and return it to us. This is deemed to be a binding application for driving training.

    Training

    Driving school and theory lessons, complete practical and theoretical examinations, introduction to operations

    Your driving instructor will contact you.

    You arrange your first lesson together.

  6. 6

    You take the additional theory test.

    You can register for your test after you have either prepared for the theory test with your driving instructor or studied for it independently. You must pass the theory test to register for the practical test.

  7. 7

    Practical test.

    As soon as you have enough practical driving experience and your driving instructor has prepared you sufficiently, they will register you for the practical test.

    CZV examination

    If you have passed the practical test, register for the CZV examination. To prepare for this, you can register for our CZV preparatory course. This also takes place at the driving school.

Category D licence costs.

Depending on which licence you have, you may have to factor in different costs.

Additional practical lessons are charged accordingly (1 lesson at CHF 195) and theoretical lessons (1 lesson at CHF 55).

Additional theory test for category C.

If you already have a category C licence, you sit an additional theory test. This is not the case if you only have a category B licence. The driving school will prepare you for this in theory lessons. You can obtain the learning material for this in the driving school, in the App Store/on Google Play or in a bookshop.

For category D, the additional theory test is valid for two years; out of 40 questions, you can make a maximum of four mistakes.

Payment.

You pay for theory and practical lessons as well as the learning materials on a monthly basis. The payment deadline is 30 days.
