To ensure you get off to a good start with us, you should ideally have the following:
The school-leaving certificate or vocational school-leaving certificate.
You should have successfully completed the school-leaving certificate (Matura) from a grammar school or a vocational school-leaving certificate not related to ICT.
You think analytically.
You have analytical thinking skills and the ability to recognize correlations.
You’re good at mathematics and English.
For the PiBS, you should have strengths in mathematics and English.
You’re reliable.

Your future after this apprenticeship:
After your apprenticeship, there are many ways to further your education, with or without a vocational school-leaving certificate:
Master’s degree at a university of applied sciences
For example, in business informatics or IT at a university, a university of applied sciences or federal institute of technology if you want to pursue a career.
CAS or MAS at a university of applied sciences
You can obtain a federal diploma that qualifies you as an expert in your professional field, or you can obtain certification in your specialist unit.
Further training in project management
You can undertake advanced training in order to be responsible for projects in your unit with your team.
Get off to a practical start.
The PiBS Informatics at Swiss Post starts on 1 August each year at the Swiss Post ICT Campus in Bern. It lasts four years and leads to a Bachelor of Science qualification. During this time, you’ll work in various IT teams at Swiss Post and PostFinance in the Bern area. Each year, you’ll change your practical field so that you get to know different specialist areas. You have a say in the choice of your next team – helping to actively shape your path through the training.
Your studies.
You’ll attend lectures at the Swiss Distance University of Applied Sciences (FFHS), Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) or the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). You decide for yourself which university you wish to attend. Your ratio of studies to work in the company is fifty-fifty! This allows you to concentrate on theory and get off to a practical start in equal measure. Your timetable is coordinated with us to ensure that your studies and work fit together perfectly.
Your speciality.
Choose your focus and become a pro in your field – both in practice and at the university of applied sciences. Whether it’s software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, iCompetence or systems engineering: you’ll shape your path and explore in-depth what inspires you. You’ll expand your practical knowledge through modular learning units and smaller projects. You’ll be supported by committed coaches who will guide you through the first stages of your professional development.
Your commitment, your salary.
During your training, you’ll benefit from a fair training salary based on Swiss Post’s basic vocational training.
1st year: CHF 800 per month (CHF 10,400 per year)
2nd year: CHF 1,350 per month (CHF 17,550 per year)
3rd and 4th year: CHF 1,700 per month (CHF 22,100 per year)
We’ll also pay all semester fees for you at the university of applied sciences.
